“For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”
I recently heard a preacher say ,” whatever we put on our altar of sacrifice to God, He accepts because it was placed there in faith”. When we follow Christ, we stumble and sometimes even fall along the way. Many of us try to quickly cover up the fall instead of admitting when we are wrong because we don’t want anyone to look at us differently or to accept the fact that we messed up. The bible says that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins(1 John 1:9).
I believe that God wants us to remember that He knows that we will fall at times in our walk with Him.We won’t always get it right or have it all together all of the time. If we always had it right, then there would be no need for God. Sister, you won’t be perfect in this walk with Christ, but the blessing and great beauty is that He is.
Something that we often overlook after we fall is that when we fall, we are in the perfect position to lay those failures at the Master’s feet — and leave them there. He knows that we have broken pieces from previous years, months or even days, but He stands with open arms ready to receive us still. He wants you to come to Him with your silent tears or loud screams. He wants you to come to Him with your frustration and anger. He wants you to come to Him even with your desperation. He welcomes you to come in whatever way you can so that He can comfort you and bind together with His love all those things that you felt were useless. If you are weak in an area, know that God is strength for you. If you are lacking hope, He is the Hope of Glory that does not make you ashamed. If you are feeling condemned because of past decisions, know that He is your justification and righteousness!
When we are broken, we are able to let God be seen from within us, and we allow God’s grace to be our strength. I pray that God helps us to not be ashamed of our brokenness, but to come before Him with boldness and with every broken piece so that He may heal and restore us in His strength and virtue. You are beloved in the sight of God, even in your brokenness!
